One of the best things about being an actor, like our cover feature Micheal Ealy, is that Hollywood is everywhere that you can find and actually roll a camera. You see, what happens when you’re in Hollywood is you discover and understand the need to actively incorporate a little Hollywood in you.Soak it up and take it in. In everything you do, make it a point to have a photographer in your circle. Your power circle should also include a stylist to give you flair, and a publicist — a mom, sister, friend, girlfriend — who can get the message out for you. But what I want you to understand most is this; it’s all about those who are taking their feet off the brakes and actually putting Hollywood or at least a Hollywood lifestyle on their agenda.
Why Hollywood? According to Shakespeare “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players,” so it’s time for those of you who want to make a difference, to bring Hollywood into your life. Shine the spotlight on who you are and where you’re going.
It’s simple, take an acting class so that you can make a better presentation. If you haven’t taken a speaking class, do that! But for many of you who want to be compassionate when you think about how you feel, who want to be able to have that magnetism — as does Ealy — and alter people’s perceptions of you, acting is a part of that. The other factor is to make sure that you take a little training in understanding that you have to be ready for something — anything that happens. So, be able to laugh, be able to cry, but whatever you do, put a little Hollywood in your program, and take the brakes off for Hollywood.
