If you’ve remained on speaking terms — or have gotten to the point where it’s not that painful to speak to him again — and have conversations periodically, he will eventually unveil the nature of the relationship that broke you two up. At some point, he will start hating on his current girlfriend (of course, he’s talking bad about his current woman when she’s not in the room) and saying that she doesn’t measure up to what you brought to the table. This is tacky because there was obviously something so appealing as to make stray out of the “strong” relationship that you two had. Besides, if he hates on his current girlfriend to you, then he probably hated on you to someone else.
