The Shawshank Redemption’ (1994) Stephen King’s 1982 novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, was a box-office bust. But it was soon discovered on cable because of the movie’s brilliant direction by Frank Darabont and starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman as prisoners with full hearts, who take their time to communicate their trajectory of isolation, guilt, repentance and ultimately literal and figurative liberation.
