Did you know that you can get free general admission to museums, zoos, science centers, botanical gardens, and aquariums the first weekend of every month with your Bank of America credit or debit card? That’s right. More than 150 cultural institutions participate in this monthly opportunity to inspire cardholders. Now in its 15th season, Museums on Us — a national program — includes some of the country’s best cultural institutions like the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
In Detroit, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is hosting “Mixing Metaphors: The Aesthetic, Social and Political in African American Art” now until June 3, 2012. You can enjoy it free.
A photo ID and a valid Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card must be presented at the ticket window. One free general admission is limited to cardholder at the participating institution, excluding fundraising events, special exhibitions and ticketed shows the first full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of each month. This offer cannot be combined with other offers. Call ahead to check participating museums’ days and hours of operation. –yvette caslin
