‘Donut Day’ Offers Up Free Donuts
Today marks a national holiday where people are encouraged to indulge in a tasty treat absolutely free of charge. As per tradition, the first Friday in June marks National Donut Day where donut shops offer up complimentary pieces of deep fried dough. The Salvation Army is credited with starting the holiday to honor women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day has been observed since 1938.
