Fans of the hit VH1 show “Single Ladies” were shocked when the series lead, Stacey Dash, left the show abruptly after season one aired. Since then, rumors have spread that Dash was actually fired because of her diva behavior. And though co-stars like LisaRaye McCoy say they wish Dash had stayed, actor D.B. Woodside says he’s glad Dash is gone.
According to S2S, during a recent interview with radio personality Egypt Sherrod, Woodside, who plays Malcolm Franks on the show, claimed that things on set with Dash were less than peachy.
“Last year was very difficult at times to go to set with all that tension that was going on with Stacey. So I wish her well. I’m sure she’s off doing something else,” Woodside said.
For years, Dash been rumored to be quite the difficult actress to work with, and when Woodside was asked if Dash was also difficult on the “Single Ladies” set, he quickly explained that he was happy that she left the show.
“Yes, she was. I don’t want to cause any trouble, but I for one, am happy she’s gone. It’s a much better place to be. It’s a much better set,” he said bluntly. “I’m just going to keep it straight. I’m just going to keep it real. I am happy that she’s not there anymore.”
In fact, Woodside was so happy to see Dash go that he even celebrated when he learned of her departure.
“When I first heard that Stacey was leaving, I went out and celebrated and had some drinks,” said the actor.
Woodside also touched upon Dash’s on-set fight with McCoy. And while he won’t give up too much of his opinion on the spat, he did say who he was and still is rooting for.
“All I’ll say is this — LisaRaye is my girl. I love LisaRaye,” he said. “LisaRaye and I have always had a blast on the show, and all I’ll say is I’m Team LisaRaye.”
Well, it looks like Dash’s diva legend is looking more like a reality than a long-standing rumor. But if so, she wouldn’t be the first star to get the boot over their attitude. Check out some other stars who were “fired” for their bad attitudes below. – nicholas robinson
