Scarlet
Where: 3320 N. Halsted St.
Completely remodeled after a February 2009 fire, Scarlet has reopened. Kick back in a comfy banquette near a 10-foot-tall photo of a 1920s drag queen (blown up from one of a few original photos in the bar’s collection of photographs depicting Chicago’s GLBT scene in the first half of the century), or have a seat on an antique settee in a den off the main space. On Sundays, stop in for a “liquid brunch” of champagne, with cartoons on TV and pajama-clad servers.
