It was at Yale that Angela Bassett met her husband, Courtney B. Vance, a 1986 graduate of the drama school. He started out as a scholastic progeny, getting a full scholarship to the college preparatory powerhouse Country Day High School in Beverly Hills, Mich., an upscale Detroit suburb. Vance later graduated from Harvard with a bachelor of arts degree. While attending Harvard, Vance was already working as an actor at the Boston Shakespeare Company. He then returned to school, this time in Connecticut’s Yale School of Drama, where he procured his master’s of fine arts and made the acquaintance of his future wife and mother of his children.
