What’s the best advice you can offer to an aspiring artist?

Just be true to what it is that you do and make sure that the music comes first and not the side effects of music; the popularity, the money, those things will follow you if you’re giving somebody a pure offering.

What’s your fondest Chicago memory?

My fondest Chicago memory would have to be performing at the United Center for the Big Jam.

What new projects do you have?

I am currently in the studio working on an EP, which stands for extended play, of course, and it’s a six-song project of nothing but ballads. … It’s called Carl Thomas Begging After Midnight, so be on the look out for that.
