DORAL, Fla. — Because of the spectacular golf exploits of living legend Tiger Woods, the Doral Golf Resort & Spa that straddles the edge of Miami one of the best known golf and country clubs in America.
Thousands of African American businesspeople, high-ranking corporate executives, entrepreneurs and celebrities converged on the 5-star Doral Country Club in suburban Miami for the 19th annual Black Enterprise Golf & Tennis Challenge.
The BE Pepsi Golf and Tennis Challenge was also sponsored by no less than American Express, BMW, Pepsico, FedEx, Bombay Sapphire, Gatorate, Lays, Quaker, Tropicana, Ralph Lauren, Region’s, Aeatna and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Vacationers were able to participate in golf and tennis competitions, get pampered at upscale spas, go on scavenger hunts, bid whist and spades challenges, or attended fun events like the “Battle of the Sexes” competition and the “Football 101” where women learned the intricacies of America’s favorite sport.
In the evening, Doral rocked to a different tune than it does during any other time of the year as the attendees were entertained by the likes of Fantasia, Raphael Saadiq, Jackee Harry, Mark Curry, Sol Factor, Michael Colyar, and comedian Chris Spencer and then danced long into the evening.
