Rihanna has suffered a number of tragedies throughout her years in the limelight, but few have effected her like the death of her grandmother, Gran Gran Dolly. And after suffering such a devastating blow, Rihanna has now found a way to keep her Gran Gran Dolly close to her heart — with a tattoo.
On Sunday, Sept.9, Rihanna took to Twitter to reveal that, during her recent London trip, she’d gotten a tattoo of the Egyptian goddess Isis on her rib cage, right below her breasts, in remembrance of her Gran Gran Dolly.
“Goddess Isis- Complete Woman – Model for future generations-#GRANGRANDOLLY – always in and on my heart #1lo,” Rihanna tweeted along with the photo.
Isis, also known as Aset, is the matriarch of the Egyptian gods (she is the mother of the hawk-headed god Horus) and is seen as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patron of nature and magic.
Rihanna continued on by posting a photo of her planting a tender kiss on her grandmother’s cheek to one of her followers.
Clearly, Rihanna’s new tattoo (which is maybe her millionth boob shot of the year) is going to have many people talking praising or criticizing the bold singer, but considering the amount of love Rihanna had for her Gran Gran Dolly, we’re sure the tattoo means the world to her.
