How to Get Red Carpet Ready: CVS’ Beauty Lounge at 2012 Mirror Mirror Beauty Awards in Atlanta

If a party’s vibe is judged by the backup in valet parking, then the 2012 Mirror Mirror Beauty Awards at the Indigo Bar gets an A-plus. Atlanta scenesters, celebs and the evening’s honorees were lining up for the premier beauty event hosted by rolling out and CVS/pharmacy.  The 2012 Mirror Mirror Beauty Awards, a fabulous and fashionable fête was held to honor those defining and refining beauty and fashion in music, entertainment and pop culture.

Honorees Kandi Burruss, Tiny Harris and Toya Wright were all glammed up. Seeing their flawless makeup jobs, made this writer’s decision to wear bare lips seem like a puerile decision for a beauty enthusiast and fashion-forward girl. Darting past the red carpet — trying to go unnoticed — I proceeded to the elevator. Arrival excitement started to set in as I entered the rooftop bar and lounge. Making pleasantries with familiar associates and meeting new ones was a must, but it was like I had tunnel vision. I found my target and glided to the CVS Beauty Lounge, a playground of cosmetics and beauty products.

Beauty consultant Tenille Love welcomed me with open arms. I begged her for a lipstick to complement the “great smokey-eye job” I’d done with my eyelids. “Sure, I have the perfect lip color for you,” she said with a coy smile. I started to really settle down the moment Tenille picked up the lip brush and lipstick. How to Get Red Carpet Ready: CVS’ Beauty Lounge at 2012 Mirror Mirror Beauty Awards in Atlanta

The weather and energy were great. DJ Traci Steele was playing a delicious blend of hip-hop hits and everyone was having a good time — both inside the lounge and outside on the rooftop patio.

Once Tenille finished applying the lip color, I was all set to make my rounds. Not so fast. Remember the coy smile? Well, she suggested that my eyes would look great with a few shades of blue and some eyeliner. I conceded.

My beauty journey lasted nearly 15 minutes and the result, as Tenille smartly phrased it, “the flirty look” summoned my confidence.

How the look was achieved?
Eyes –Wet ‘n Wild’s “Blue Had Me at Hello” and CoverGirl liquid eyeliner
Lips – CoverGirl Queen Collection’s “See Red”
Face – Revlon’s “Coral Reef,” a crème blush
