Is Chris Brown's New Tattoo Really About Rihanna? Singer Explains

It appears that whatever Chris Brown does trouble is sure to follow and that was definitely the case yesterday when fans exploded in an uproar about Brown’s new neck tattoo, which many assumed to be the battered or decayed face of his famous ex-girlfriend, Rihanna. However, the singer recently spoke out against his critics and cleared up the mystery of his tattoo.

In a statement to TMZ, a rep for Brown claimed that the new tat has nothing to do with Rihanna. It’s actually inspired by a Mexican-themed skull in commemoration of Dia de los Muertos and a design from a cosmetics giant.

“His tattoo is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw. It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported,” read the statement.

The photo of Brown’s tattoo was taken over Labor Day weekend in Las Vegas, but did not get national attention until recently. And according to Brown’s tattoo artist, the singer brought him the “sugar skull” from a MAC advertisement that he saw.
