Missy Elliott Tells MTV She’s a Mother
After years of remaining coy about her personal life, Missy Elliot spoke candidly Wednesday to Sway Calloway of MTV’s “Rap Fix Live.” During her time on the live Hip-Hop program Missy revealed an apparently heavily kept secret; she’s the mother of two children. MTV’s resident writer Rob Markman broke the news to viewers who weren’t tuned in with the following tweet:
Fans quickly flooded the social network and expressed shock over the news.
“What, who, when and how?!” wrote a heavily retweeted fan on the site.
“No way!” added another.
Fans’ doubts about Elliot having offspring are understandable considering that in the past she spoke openly about her fear of childbirth “I most definitely want kids, but I’ll probably adopt,” said Elliot in a 2008 interview. “I don’t know if I can take the kind of pain women go through with childbirth. Maybe in the year 2020 you could just pop a baby out and it’d be fine. But right now I’d rather just adopt.”
