LL Cool J has long been revered as one of hip-hop’s best fathers. But, the admirable hip-hop patriarch and his family were devastated this weekend, when the rapper revealed that his own father passed away at the age of 65.
LL shared his grief over the loss of his father, James Nunya, with his Twitter fans last Friday, Sept. 28, announcing that his father died the previous day.
“RIP to My Father James Nunya. You passed away yesterday. But The lessons you taught me live on in my heart. Thank you. I love you,” he tweeted.
LL, who was raised by his mother, Ondrea Smith, after his parents divorced when he was 4, didn’t reveal any details about his father’s death. But, his fans soon sent in waves of support and condolences for the hip-hop giant and he later thanked them for their kind words.
“I thank you all for your prayers and love. I truly appreciate you. #RipJamesNunya#MyFather,” he tweeted.
