Sandy victim brutally beats electrical worker for powerA volunteer traveled from Lakeland, Fla. to Long Island to assist the Long Island Power Authority with restoring power to an area ravaged by Superstorm Sandy. John Applewhite, a lineman, was brutally attacked by a stranger suffering a meltdown due to the lack of power.

The 34-year-old electrical worker traveled to East Hempstead, Long Island with 24 colleagues and was attacked after a 16-hour shift. The man yelled at him before breaking his jaw and several other facial bones.


The culprit was driving a black BMW, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
