Lauryn Hill performed at the Congress theater last night, in a concert with Nas, and many Chicago fans were not pleased.
Says the Chicago Tribune: “Following a convincing set from the New York MC, Hill turned in a train wreck as miserable to watch as it was to hear. The former Fugees vocalist’s 75-minute performance registered as the humorless sort that makes music lovers sad for witnessing an artist in obvious decline. While everyone experiences a bad night, Hill’s showing prompted many attendees to flee long before her post-midnight finale.”
Mega-hit songs such as “Ex-Factor” was unrecognizable as the music struggled to keep up with Hill’s apparent on-the-spot rearrangement of the music. Hill clarified on Twitter that there were technical difficulties during her 75-minute set and she apologized on Twitter.
Chicago! We had some serious technical difficulties tonight that compromised our sound. We apologize, and will be back soon. Love you. -MLH
