Kate Vernon: She is the second leg of an acting dynasty as her father John starred in such classics as Dirty Harry, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Animal House. She began her own career with some pop — as one of the snobs in the cult classic Pretty in Pink. That caused her career to go into overdrive and she was Denzel’s (Malcolm’s) love interest in the first part of Malcolm X when he was known as Malcolm Little.
Vernon’s versatility and ability to avoid typecasting has enabled her to work with the following leading men during her 20-year career says imdb: Denzel Washington, Willem Dafoe, Edward James Olmos, Christopher Lee and Richard Thomas. She also has worked with the following directors: Spike Lee, Peter Medak, Ronald D. Moore, David Eick, Joe Cacaci, David Weddle, Michael Nankin and John Woo. To top it off, she has guested on the following major TV series including “Heroes” (2006/II) (2010), “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2000) (2004-2009), “Star Trek: Voyager” (1995) (1995), “Nash Bridges” (1996) (1996-1997),“Battlestar Galactica” (2004) (2004-2009), “L.A. Law” (1986) (1994), “Bones” (2005) (2010), “Tales from the Crypt” (1989).
Needless to say, while she has not become a household name, neither in or out of Hollywood, she has kept very busy for the past two decades.
