The road to Olympic gold was never an easy journal to travel for gymnastics superstar Gabby Douglas, but, apparently, the road was once so tough that she considered quitting — and working for Chick-fil-A.
In a recent interview with People, Douglas revealed that, around this time last year, she shocked her coaches and family by telling them that she wanted to quit gymnastics and work for the fast-food giant.
However, after becoming the first black woman to win an individual all-around gold medal at the Olympics, Douglas now looks back on her decision to quit and laughs.
“What,” she says now, “was I thinking?”
Douglas has now put all of her rough times and successes of the past year into her new memoir, Grace, Gold & Glory: My Leap of Faith, which hit stores on Dec. 4.
“My life has changed so much,” she adds. “It’s been really fun.”
Well, we’re glad that Douglas decided not to sling chicken burgers at a neighborhood restaurant and instead decided to go for gold. Check out some other stars who almost had regular jobs below.
