Unbeknownst to many, No Doubt’s original lead singer was a black man named John Spence and Gwen Stefani sang backing vocals. But when John abruptly committed suicide in late 1987, the group decided to disband. However, after several weeks, the group decided to reform with Gwen singing lead vocals and the rest is history.
