As another day passes following the tragic murder-suicide of Kansas City Chiefs star Jovan Belcher and his live-in girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, questions to continue to roll in about the man Belcher really was and what could have driven him to kill himself and the mother of his 3-month-old daughter, Zoey, last Saturday, Dec. 1. As police continue to investigate the murder-suicide, new details have come in about that Friday night before Belcher’s drastic actions and how he may not have spent the night alone.
According to RadarOnline, Belcher was dating another woman and officers found him outside her Kansas City apartment complex the night before the murder-suicide. According to the site, officers claim that they responded to a report that a man was sleeping in his car outside of the complex. Cops arrived at around 2:50 a.m. and found Belcher, saying that he was “very cooperative” when they approached him.
“We asked him ‘Why are you sleeping here?’ and he says he’s there to visit his girlfriend, but she’s not home,” police spokesperson Darin Snapp said on Dec. 4.
Snapp then explained that after Belcher made a phone call, a woman let him into the apartment.
“When he was sleeping she may have come home, and he didn’t realize,” Snapp said,
Snapp claims that witnesses reported seeing the late NFL defender leave the woman’s apartment at about 6:30 a.m., just around an hour and 20 minutes before police responded to a 911 call at the home that Belcher and Perkins shared.
However, in a revealing new article from Sports Illustrated, writer David Epstein claims that police officials say that Belcher spent Friday night in the Power and Light District, a bar area in downtown K.C., “partying” with another woman. Officials say that Belcher returned home between 6:30 and 7 a.m., at wich point he got into a fatal argument with Perkins.
The mystery of Belcher’s life and death still remains, hazy but these two unknown women that Belcher was allegedly with weren’t the only people who talked to him that Friday night. Belcher also spoke with his former University of Maine teammate, Reggie Paramoure. Check out Belcher’s final text messages with Paramoure before his murder-suicide below. – nicholas robinson
