New cast of 'Basketball Wives' confirmed

Basketball Wives season 5 cast

Fans of Vh1’s resident bad girls will be elated to know that the bottle-throwing ladies of “Basketball Wives” are returning for a fifth season. The Miami version of the Shed Media program will return to television in early 2013, welcoming back five of its main subjects. Tami Roman, Evelyn Lozada, Shaunie O’Neal, Susie Ketcham and Kenya Bell will all take their talents back to South Beach to document their day-to-day lives. Not returning will be Dwight Howard’s baby’s mother Royce Reed, as well as Kesha Nichols and Lozada’s ex-best friend Jennifer Williams.

And while details are scarce on the new season, Tami Roman recently revealed that there would be significantly less violence this time around. “People are really going to be surprised at the approach we’re going to take this season because it’s more family-oriented, not as much drama,” said Roman. “What you’ve seen in past seasons was real, but that’s not how our lives are 98% of the time. We’re excited to show you more than just the drama.”

While we’re sad to see less brawls for sure, it’s also unknown if we’ll see Evelyn Lozada work on regaining contact with her ex-husband Chad Johnson. The B-Ball Wife recently dropped a restraining order against him and appeared alongside him in court.

Shaunie O’Neal has reportedly added three new ladies to the Miami cast to replace Reed and her cohorts. Check out the new additions to the “Basketball Wives” cast below. –danielle canada
