Akon’s last album Freedom, managed to go platinum. That’s the good news. The bad news? It was released five years ago—an eternity in the world of popular music. In 2008, Justin Bieber was an 8th grader uploading homemade videos to YouTube and people actually believed Leona Lewis was about to become the next Mariah Carey—its an entirely different world. We’ll see if the famed producer/singer/songwriter still has his finger on the pulse of pop culture.
