NeNe Leakes and Gregg Leakes have seen their romance rise, fall and ultimately explode on TV thanks to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cameras. But after a bitter divorce in 2011, the two have slowly been rebuilding their relationship and are now lovey-dovey on camera, once again. Now, Leakes is opening up about the breakup and reconciliation and saying that she never wanted to divorce Gregg.
In a new interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine, Leakes denied longstanding rumors that she and Gregg never divorced and explained how they came to be friends and lovers, once again.
“When we broke up, Gregg moved out for a year. We divorced while Gregg was out. Then, once we divorced, we found ourselves being friends. And there was nothing left to fight about,” Leakes said.
Clearly, it’s been a long road to reconciliation for NeNe and Gregg. Their bitter divorce was a main storyline through seasons four and five of “RHOA,” and Leakes has hinted that Gregg cheated on her, which may have prompted their divorce. But Leakes says that if she had it her way, she and Gregg never would’ve divorced.
“I’m very loyal and I was very committed to Gregg,” she said. “I always wanted to stay married.”
