According to a New Jersey-based newspaper, a “‘Love & Hip Hop” star is currently facing charges of child molestation. Mandeecees Harris, 34, who was introduced as the boyfriend of Yandy Smith on the program, is apparently awaiting trial for inappropriate behavior with an underage girl. The North Jersey Record that owns NorthJersey.com reports that jury selection has begun in the trial of the 34-year-old studio owner turned reality star.
According to prosecutors, Harris asked for and received oral sex from a 15-year-old between September 2009 and April 2010. He was later arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment. Harris faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Neither Mandeecees nor Smith have spoken out on the case. Mandeecees’ Twitter bio does say however; “A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on his shoe…” which may or may not be alluding to his case.
And while the couple has been mute on his legal issues, viewers of the Mona Scott Young produced show are already sounding off online. “So ya baby “fawver” a molester?, said one of Yandy’s Twitter followers. “You can do better than a rapist,” chided another.
This is actually the second time a ‘Love & Hip Hop’ star has been accused of inappropriate behavior with an adolescent. Just last year Kirk Frost was faced similar allegations. Those reports however appear to be unfounded.
