It’s been a while since the world has heard any major news about Linda Perry, but the famous pop producer-songwriter recently popped up in the news April 8 when it was revealed that she and her longtime girlfriend, “The Talk” co-host Sara Gilbert, are now engaged.

Gilbert announced her engagement on Monday’s episode of her show, explaining that Perry proposed to her with an elaborate musical picnic scheme at a park “about a week ago.”

“I’m sitting there listening and I’m kind of daydreaming and I’m thinking like, ‘If I ever proposed to her this would be an amazing way to do it,’ ” Gilbert explained.

“The people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket, walk over and they start playing ‘Love Song,’” said Gilbert, explaining that the couple chose the Cure record “their song” because Gilbert’s favorite song, John Waite’s “Missing You,” was a sad breakup song.

Gilbert then explained that that’s when Perry popped the big question.

“She goes to her backpack and she pulls out these T-shirts and the first T-shirt says ‘will’ and then puts on another T-shirt and it says, ‘you,’ then ‘marry,’ ‘me.’ And the last one’s a question mark,” Gilbert said. “It’s the most amazing proposal ever.”

Perry then put the icing on the engagement cake by bringing out John Waite, who played “Missing You.”

Gilbert, who spoke in favor of same-sex marriage last week, also thanked the fans of the show for supporting her stance and explained that she shared her engagement news with them because they are like “family.”

Well, that was truly one beautiful and sentimental proposal and we congratulate Gilbert and Perry on their engagement. Check out some other engaged celebrities below. –nicholas robinson
