Adam Scott became the first Aussie born player to win the Masters on Sunday, April 14th. Scott, 32, could barely contain himself after closing with a three-under-par 69 to finish deadlocked with Cabrera, who posted a 70, at nine-under 279.
“What an incredible day — everything fell my way in the end, I guess,” said Scott. “It’s amazing that it’s my destiny to be the first Aussie to win, just incredible,”
In the final round, eight golfers were within four strokes of each other as the Masters commenced Sunday. In the end, with two strokes using his long putter, Scott beat Cabrera and set Australia free from a four-century drought.
During his press conference, the proud golfer stated that, “Australia is a proud sporting nation and this is one notch in the belt that we had never got.”
