Jennifer Williams’ ex-husband, Eric Williams, is used to being the villain thanks to his very public and messy divorce from the former “Basketball Wives” star. But Williams took the role to new heights this past weekend when he went on a homophobic Twitter rant about same-sex marriage.
During his longwinded rant, Williams pitted gay black men against straight black men and claimed that society shouldn’t condone the alleged negative influence of gay men on young kids. Williams also disapproved of the idea that same-sex marriage should be legal.
Williams then turned his anger toward the church and claimed that it’s a place where souls are claimed and that his message was better than that of the churches.
Wow.
We’re not sure why Williams is so mad, but it’s unfortunate that he doesn’t understand the concept of solidarity: An injury to one is an injury to all, and it does no good to pit the black community against the LGBT community when both are still maligned and marginalized by hate and ignorance. Solidarity doesn’t take away from anyone’s struggle, it only helps all sides to move upward and on.
Sadly, Williams also doesn’t realize that his homophobia, misogyny and femiphobia — because, apparently, it’s fine to describe women as “b—–s” — and anti-church stance are inflammatory, divisive and the true representation of an “abomination.”
