Zab Judah delivered every ounce of energy that he could muster inside the boxing ring, but it wasn’t enough to beat Danny Garcia. The two pugilists squared off at the Barclays in Brooklyn, N.Y., before an enthusiastic crowd of over 13,000.
Judah started the fight slow and was knocked to the ground by Garcia in the eighth round. But by the ninth round, Judah began to turn the fight around. He hit Garcia with a slew of punches in the late rounds and even knocked Garcia into the ropes in round 10. However, Judah’s efforts were too little, too late as he went down in defeat while fighting in his home city.
The three judges likely penalized Judah for his slow start and awarded the fight to Garcia by scores of 115-112, 114-112 and 116-111. Garcia retained his WBA and WBC welterweight belts. Judah hopes to get a rematch with Garcia.
