Actresses Meagan Good and Lamyia Good surprised high school seniors from Victory Prep Academy in Houston on Saturday, May 4, 2013. The free hair and makeup “Project Beautiful Me” glam day at Imported Hair Supply and Salon was sponsored by My I.N.C. and allowed the female students the opportunity to meet personally with Meagan and Lamyia Good.
“It’s important because I think that young women have it really hard out there today with the music that’s out there and the message that’s out there telling them to be less than what they can be and portraying them like they are of no importance. They need positive people that they can relate that are trying to put a positive message out there. We wanted to support and encourage them to by being here and come and give some light and get some of their light and just try to instill in them how valuable they are and how God sees them. It starts on the inside but it helps to feel good on the outside,” said Meagan Good.
Victory Prep’s principal, Letha Gilmore; thanked My I.N.C. founder Kisha Beard and president Candace Ford for sponsoring the event and the Imported Hair supply and Salon staff for volunteering their time and expertise. “We are so excited to be here for Victory Prep and Kisha Beard to promote sisterhood. With so many negative stereotypes in today’s day and age there’s just not enough support! We must understand that our only competition is with ourselves and we can help each other by receiving light and giving light and feeding life into each other. A lot of times the enemy will try to keep us divided and when you allow that division you can be conquered. It’s important that we show this togetherness so we can avoid these lapses of feeling alone and not having a shoulder to lean on during the hard times,” said Lamyia Good.
The young ladies were treated to autographs and photos with Meagan and Lamyia along with pre prom refreshments and media interviews prior to their departure for the prom festivities.
