Tika Sumpter and Patrice Lovely preview Tyler Perry’s series
Earlier this week, a number of Washington, D.C. residents and VIPs flocked to B. Smith’s Restaurant for a peek at OWN’s forthcoming scripted Tyler Perry shows “The Haves and The Have Nots” and “Love Thy Neighbor.”
On hand to greet the guests were actresses Tika Sumpter, who plays Candace on “The Haves and The Have Nots,” and Patrice Lovely, who plays Hattie Mae Love on “Love Thy Neighbor.” Obviously excited about their starring roles on the programs, the ladies shared their joy with the crowd.
“Tyler is awesome to work with,” said Sumpter. “I love that he holds prayer before and after taping. I’ve never been on a production like that.”
“I feel so blessed to be a part of this project,” added Lovely. “I’ve been doing the ‘Ms. Hattie’ character for over 20 years, so it’s a dream to be able to bring her to TV.”
“The Haves and The Have Nots” premieres Tuesday, May 28 at 9pm ET/PT.
“Love Thy Neighbor” premieres Weirdness, May 29 at 9pm ET/PT.
Both shows are exclusively on OWN.
