Lil Scrappy and Mama Dee before “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta”

Before Lil Scrappy and Mama Dee were battling back and forth on “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” they were a mother and son duo promoting Lil Scrappy’s music career.

These days, Mama Dee is known for being arguably the most outspoken addition to Mona Scott Young’s cast and a fiercely protective, extremely opinionated mother to her son.

Prior to that, she was a pimp, yes a pimp, who encouraged a band of women to sell their bodies for money — and give a portion of their money back to her.

“I owned a brothel. I had a place for them,” Mama Dee previously told the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” about her controversial occupation.

While his mother was involved in scandalous activities, Lil Scrappy was diligently working on rapping and working alongside Lil Jon’s Trillville. Dubbing himself the “Prince of the South,” Scrappy released his debut album, Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live, in December of 2006.

Scrappy’s most popular song to date, “No Problem,” was released in 2004.
