Chicago Department of Health is taking teen pregnancy awareness to another level. While most campaigns generally focus of teen females, Chicago’s health officials decided to do the opposite and use teen boys in their ads – pregnant teen boys.

According to the Department of Health’s website,  Chicago’s teen pregnancy rate is down 33 percent from last year, it is still almost twice as high as the national teen pregnancy rate.

The ads which features pregnancy teen boys that read,  Unexpected? have been placed all around Chicago and will remain up for a full month. Officials are hoping that the ads will raise awareness to the boys even though they aren’t able to physically become pregnant. The city emulated similar ads that ran in Milwaukee and New York that are believed to have helped decrease their teen pregnancy by 10 and 27  percent, respectively.
