Keyshia Cole Gibson

Hers is an inspiring story of a woman peeling herself off the streets of Oakland and, bandaging up her emotional wounds and, pretty much on her own, finding fame, fortune and a large fan base in music. You could feel her pain and angst in her music, which really endeared her to her audiences. Furthermore, she scored big points with the efforts to try to rehabilitate herself and her entire family, including her mother, in view of the public resulted in the highest-rated reality series in BET history.

But then she made the same mistake that Keri Hilson made: she ran afoul of Beyonce loyalists. Her latest album also flopped in both sales and reviews and she came off as an angry, embittered woman. The “Bey Hive” really swarmed over the wife of NBA sharpshooter Daniel “Boobie” Gipson after the Super Bowl when she tweeted some stinging criticisms of former Destiny’s Child Michelle Williams’ performance. To her detractors, Cole came off as a hater and jealous bird and that knocked her down several pegs on the urban musical strata.
