Common compares Trayvon Martin to MLK

A socially conscious rapper made waves on social media today after he compared a slain teen to an iconic civl rights leader. Common, 41, sparked mixed reactions on Twitter after he shared a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. wearing a hoodie. The photograph called “#TwoMartins” is meant to symbolize the correlation between Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teen allegedly shot dead by George Zimmerman, and MLK.

While some fans ultimately got the message, others blasted him for the art.

“This picture, for me, connotes everything that is wrong and everything that is right. Very thought-provoking. Very upsetting nonetheless,” said one fan.

“How ridiculous is this?! Dr. Martin would seek fair justice, not vengeance based off race!” contrasted  another.
