Derryck Green:
The spokesman for the black conservative organization Project 21 believes Zimmerman was trying to protect his neighborhood and, eventually, himself.
“I think that he was defending his neighborhood because, over the previous year and a half, that neighborhood had been burglarized eight or nine times,” says Green.
“I think that this case happened at a time when it was exploited by the president and by people like Al Sharpton, and partially by the parents of Trayvon Martin, because the victim involved was a black man,” says Green.
He notes that Zimmerman was referred to as a “white Hispanic” by the media and by those seeking a murder charge. “So I think they’re exploiting the racial aspect of the case,” Green tells OneNewsNow.
Green feels Zimmerman was protecting himself during the confrontation – “and unfortunately Trayvon Martin lost his life in the process.”
