Elisabeth Hasselbeck announces her departure from ‘The View’
At times controversial cohost for the popular daytime talkshow, “The View,” Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 36, is leaving ABC for “Fox & Friends.” The program is also an early-morning, opinion talk show on Fox News.
Hasselbeck made the announcement after walking out arm-in-arm with Barbara Walters.
“I’m happy and excited to confirm that I’ll be joining the Fox & Friends team in September,” said Hasselbeck.
She then thanked “The View’s” staff and her fellow hosts.
“You are one of the most talented artists on the planet,” she said to Whoopi Goldberg. “Joy and I have spent the past 10 years sparring over politics, but you know I have an insane amount of respect for you,” she added to Joy Behar.
She then sent out a message to Sherri Shepherd who was not in attendance and Barbara Walters.
Even when you’re not right beside me here, I know you are always with me. You are my sister in Christ,” she said.
“I did the math last night and I believe, I could be wrong, I have over 3,000 days working by your side,” she said to Walters. “I think it’s fair to say over the course of a decade I feel as though I have attended the Barbara Walters school of broadcasting journalism. I feel like I have my master’s in communications from being next to you.”
No word yet on who will fill Hasselbeck’s position. -danielle canada
