Willow Smith criticized for her “Summer Fling” music video
Is Willow Smith’s music video too racy for a 12-year-old? That’s the question that’s being asked about the preteen’s visual for the track “Summer Fling.” Directed by Mike Vargas and Willow herself, the video features Willow in a blonde wig using a British accent to speak to a much older boy. The twosome then cuddle and hold hands before cutting to a pool scene.
In the pool scene there appears to be a lesbian couple gazing at each other and later a series of other couples sharing special moments by a bonfire. All of the actors in the video are significantly older than Smith which is another source of contention among fans.
The song’s lyrics are also raising eyebrows.
“It’s just a couple months but we do it anyway, we do it anyway,” sings Smith. “Don’t really care what we do tonight, midnight kiss till the mood is right,” she later adds.
So far the video has over 650,000 views on Youtube and over 3,000 comments several of which are criticizing the video.
“The parents are prostituting their daughter for money and fame! I have lost complete respect for both of them,”wrote one Youtube commenter.
“This one of the most disturbing and disgusting videos I have ever seen,” added another.
Others took to Twitter to express their disdain for the overly adult video.
