Decorated police officer Cpl. Crystal Adele Parker, 34, was murdered. The seven-year veteran of the East Point Police Department was found inside her home south of Atlanta on Sunday, July 7, 2013 shortly before 8 p.m. Investigators believe she could have been been dead for three days before.
The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Fulton County Police arrested her former roommate Danielle Alexis Parker (born Darma Dixon), 30, in connection with the homicide.
Friends of the two women tell media that Danielle and Crystal dated for about five years but recently broke up – Crystal was found shot in the head in the home they once shared.
Danielle waived her first court appearance on Wednesday, July 10. She faces one count of murder and her next court hearing is set for 9 a.m. on July 24.
Crystal’s father and brother are distraught. “I want my baby’s killer or killers found and brought to justice. That’s all I’m asking,” Joseph Parker says during an on-air interview. “I found myself the last couple of nights, God you take care of this. It’s not in my hands. Anger is gone. I’m hurt, you can’t just kill a person like that.”
She was named the department’s officer of the year in 2012.
Funeral services for Cpl. Parker will be held Noon on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the East Point First Mallalieu United Methodist Church located at 2651 Church Street in East Point, Ga. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park.
