George Zimmerman to be investigated by Justice Department

Barack Obama, Eric Holder

George Zimmerman was acquitted of the murder of Trayvon Martin by six female jurors. However, there is still a chance that Zimmerman can face incarceration in the future. According to reports, the Justice Department, headed by Attorney General Eric Holder, will conduct their own investigation into Martin’s death.

After initially opening an investigation in 2012, the Department of Justice stopped their investigation so that Florida’s state prosecutors could pursue Zimmerman’s conviction.

Today, the Justice Department released a statement that they will evaluate evidence and possibly file criminal civil rights charges against Zimmerman.
