2 men found guilty in gang rape of 16-year-old girl

Two men have been found guilty in the 2009 gang rape of 16-year-old Richmond High School female student. Defendants Jose Carlos Montana, 22, and Marcelles Peter, 20 heard the verdicts on Thursday, July 18, 2013 in a  Contra Costa County courtroom.

The vicious gang rape of the unconscious teen girl left her with burns and bruises.


Seven men were initially arrested in connection with the incident, even though witnesses claim there were as many 20 men involved in the dragging, beating and urinating on the girl. One defendant was dismissed during a preliminary hearing.

Ari Morales and Manuel Ortega, already pleaded guilty and are serving 27 and 32 years in prison respectively. Two more men still await trial.


Montana and Peter’s convictions could result in 33 years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 15.
