Do you most often actively seek inspiration or does it find you? Or is it a combination of the two?
I would say a combination of the two. I am a seeker of inspiration. I believe in the principle, “what you seek you shall find.” Ironically, through seeking inspiration, in return it finds me.

What led you to art in general and to your art form in particular?
Around age five, I discovered an interest in playing with these “gadgets” called cameras. My love for cameras lit a fire and at age eight I began working as a kid’s news reporter at a local ABC affiliate station.
I continued to be a visionary who is passionate about informed and persuasive story telling both in front of and behind the camera. I worked in news and as on air talent in radio. Eventually, I merged into entertainment to reach a broader audience.

Have you ever been involved in traditional business? If so, how?
I have a passion for all things media. I have worked as an independent producer, development producer, project manager and post supervisor for major networks, studios, professional athletes, elected officials and hi-profile clients. While working on assignment with Endemol in New Orleans, I was integral in restoring internet service to residences in the Ninth Ward, a community severely affected by Hurricane Katrina. I recently returned from a Cannes Film Festival meeting with investors to finance my first feature film.

In addition to mastering their art, what other skill sets to you recommend that artists develop if they want to be successful?
Artist should really dive into understanding “the business” of your industry. Be vigilant, be tenacious, you must be self-motivated and be your own biggest fan!

How do you stay at the leading edge of your craft?
I am ever learning and I mix and mingle with diverse crowds.

How do you map out your goals? How do you measure your success?

I map out my goals through personal and professional inspiration. Having professionals who are experts in strategic planning helps too.

Every day I move forward little by little, I feel successful!

Who do you consider to be your peers in your field? Who do you see or use as examples for you to emulate?
My peers are the female “hyphens” in the industry, those women who are triple threat; entrepreneurs, actress/singers and producers, no matter what level they are at in the game.

Without a doubt I would love to emulate Ms. Ophrah Winfrey, Barbara Streisand, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot, Jessica Simpson, Tracey Edmonds and last but not least our first lady Michelle Obama.

Name two of your top role models: one in the art world and one from outside of it.
My mentor and pastor WC Hunter has deeply impacted my life.

I also look up to Nick Cannon as a role model. I worked for his show, “Wild N’ Out” in 07’ and he said something to me that stuck with me “always be your own biggest fan.” I love the calmness that he exudes and the loyalty he has for his inredible family.

Name three books, works, performances or exhibits that changed how you view life.
21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, Cannes Film Market, Holy Bible

Why do you consider continued learning important?
The mind is a machine. Learning is the “lubricant” needed to keep the machine running efficiently.

What affirmations do you repeat to yourself that contribute to your success?

“I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!” “Sleep is the cousin of death” “Keep your hair and face done!”

What role does art have in the community? What role would you like to see art play in the community?
Art in all its form is vital in the community. Art can be a double edge sword affecting both positively and negatively. My goal is to inspire, encourage and uplift through art.

What role does technology play in your day-to-day life? How do you utilize it?
I love tech. I am falling in love with technology more and more Technology has allowed me to self-educate and to spread my wings with minimum budget!

What software, app or other technological innovation has made the biggest difference in your life and/or career?
Laptop, iPad and Android phone

Please define your personal brand.
A 360-degree entertainment professional, I am deeply rooted in production, acting and content creation. I am a lover of people and a social butterfly with a je ne sais quoi in forging diverse global relationships.

What is your favorite vacation destination and why?
Key West, Fla., where my fiancé took me on our first vacation. It’s tiny and serene with pockets of fun.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Pride and arrogance kills the love and overshadows one’s ability to un-learn and re-learn.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My patience. I move fast and I like for those around me to move at the same pace. I am working hard to be more patient and understanding of those who may not move at “the speed of light”

What does it take to be iconic? In your estimation, who has achieved that status?
You cannot be afraid to be the “pioneer” of a product or industry. Favor, talent, tenacity, thick skin, self-motivation and a lot of moral support from those who love you. President Barack Obama … we should start and stop with him for now.
