Brandy given humanitarian award

Brandy awarded humanitarian award during the Pure Heat Vision Community festival  

An R&B songstress was brought to tears this weekend after she was awarded a humanitarian award for her career achievements and support of the LGBT community. Brandy took to Atlanta’s Piedmont Park Sunday for the annual Pure Heat Vision Community festival, an annual event that marks the city’s black gay pride weekend. While there she was gifted the award in front of thousands of her screaming fans.

In addition t0 the award, Brandy was paid tribute by singer/songwriters Sunshine Anderson and D. Wood of Danity Kane fame. Also on hand for the ceremony were Sean Garrett, Taj George of SWV, Trina Braxton, Meelah of 702 as well as singers Jade Novah, Tiffany Evans and Angel Taylor.

Touched by the tributes and outpouring of support, a tearful Brandy accepted the award from Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen, III senior pastor of the Vision Church of Atlanta and the head of the Vision Community Foundation.
