In the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Americans take a respite to commemorate the horrible tragedy of September 11, when terrorists pierced the sanctity of this nation by using commercial airlines as cruise missiles to destroy the World Trade Center in New York, severely damage the Pentagon in suburban Washington D.C. and take all the lives aboard an aircraft that crashed in rural Pennsylvania. 3

On social media, the prevailing theme is to “never forget” the 3,000 lives lost in an instant, the families that were directly impacted and a nation that was forever changed.


And we never will.

As you and I pay homage to the “heroes who don’t wear capes,” as one Twitter respondent aptly described the courageous souls who fought to save lives on that day, take a look at some of the best tributes to the tragedy of September 11.
