Well, it looks like another one has bitten the dust. Just weeks after Tami Roman announced that she has no desire to return for another season of “Basketball Wives,” series star Evelyn Lozada has now announced that she plans to leave the show as well.
During a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Lozada revealed this will likely be her final season on the popular reality series.
“I signed on to do five seasons and this is our fifth. I don’t really see me doing a sixth season,” said Lozada.
According to Lozada, she’s ready to move on to her own spin-off series and although her original spin-off, a wedding-themed series with her ex-husband, Chad Johnson, never aired, she says it planted the seed that she could indeed have her own show.
“I know I can carry my own show, pretty much carried this one,” she said.
However, if Lozada does get her own show, she says that some things would have to change. For one, she wants control. And secondly, she doesn’t want to work with a bunch of women anymore.
“I would do my own show because I know I would have creative control,” said Evelyn, adding “I’m in a different space. I’m open to doing a spin-off, but just not with a cast of women.”
For Lozada, her focus has now shifted to being a more balanced person with control over her career and over her emotions and actions. And to help her on her journey to mastering herself, she’s enlisted the help of celebrity life coaches Tony Gaskins and Iyanla Vanzant, whom she says are proud of her for not retaliating against Roman during their recent on-air confrontation.
“Probably last season I would have gotten up, but it’s just not worth it to me. I made a promise last season to just be a better example. That’s why I chose to be a mature lady and make my life coach very happy and I sat down and if she wanted to act crazy and make herself look crazy; that’s fine,” said Lozada, who is no longer communicating with Roman.
Well, with both Roman and Lozada exiting the show, it seems like “BBW” is finally on its last leg. But we’re intrigued to see what a show about a mature Lozada would look like. Check out some other reality stars who landed spin-off shows below. –nicholas robinson
