Police in Marion County, FL, say that Adrian Mendez strangled and ran over a young girl, multiple times after she refused to have sex with him.
Mendez, 21, was arrested this past Monday in his home in central Florida. The 14-year-old girl, whose name has yet to be disclosed, was found Sunday night lying on the side of the road. Her injuries included broken legs and hips as well as severe neck injuries.
The young girl told authorities that Mendez offered her $200 to have sex with him but when she refused, he grabbed her by the hair, forcing her into his SUV where he proceeded to choke her until she lost consciousness.
Shane Green, a bystander who witnessed the horrible crime, reported seeing Mendez back over the girl “multiple times.”
“I keep seeing it in my head. How do you do that to a little girl? I started screaming at him [and] he backed up, he literally backed up and hit her again and he went to take off because he heard us screaming at him. He hit his brakes and was spinning his tires on top of that little girl,” said Green.
Thankfully, the young girl was later able to pick Mendez out of a photo lineup. Mendez was charged with false imprisonment, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. –ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
