Music executive-turned-“ATL Live on the Park” founder Shanti Das melted hearts inside the Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery during the Lincoln Journey series when she shared how, despite her enormous career successes, she suffered from and overcame her debilitating chronic depression. V-103 morning show personality Ryan Cameron shared how he rose from being a college dropout and manager at Blockbuster video to becoming a major multifaceted media personality in Georgia.

These were but two of the stories of successes during the Lincoln Motor Company and UPTOWN magazine’s “Lincoln Journey Series” at the Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery in Atlanta on Wednesday, October 23. Hosted by Bevy Smith, the star of BRAVO TV’s “The Fashion Queens” opposite Derek J and Miss Lawrence, the Lincoln Journey event and networking forum provided a platform for Das, Cameron and urban radio executive Reggie Rouse to share their enthralling journeys to the pinnacle of their professions.IMG_8377

This was the fourth stop for the Lincoln Journey, which also stopped in Los Angeles, Dallas and Washington before concluding in Atlanta, choosing four panelists from the local market who are successful in their fields to tell their stories.

“What you will find when listening to them talk about their stories is what we’ve all learned in life: it’s not about the destination; it is about the journey,” said UPTOWN publisher Leonard Burnett.

The event was also an opportunity for Lincoln, a division of Ford Motor Company, to illuminate the attributes of the MKZ, which is a major attractor to the urban sophisticates in attendance, said Lorraine Austin, regional operations manager for the southeast market of Lincoln Motor Company. IMG_8355

“We’ve taken a lot of time to completely redesign the vehicle and make sure it fits the profile of the cultural progressives — and that’s young, trendy people who are doing their thing much like the entrepreneurs we have on the panel, people who are not tied to any particular brand but make their decisions based on their needs and on it being a part of their lifestyle,” she said.
