Miami Dolphins player Richie Incognito has filed a grievance against the Miami Dolphins following his “indefinite suspension”after one of his teammates accused him of harassment including racial slurs, according to the NFL Players Association.
Incognito filed the grievance on Thursday to challenge if his status is valid due to the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NFL and the NFL Player’s Association.
The guard was suspended from the team on Nov. 3 after evidence was gathered from tackle Jonathan Martin regarding alleged harassment, including a voice message in which Incognito used a racial slur. His loss in income is expected to be near $1.3 million as he loses $235,294.12 for each week not played.
Incognito, 30, is in the final year of his three-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. The contract was worth a total of $12.9 million. He’s set to become an unrestricted free agent for the 2014 season.
