Released: September 13th, 1993

In the fall of 1993, grunge was still dominating rock radio, but no one could have known that within  about 18 months, it would pretty much be over as a movement. The April 1994 suicide of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was a major part of the genre’s decline, and this album stands as his and the band’s final studio statement. Much more abrasive and less accessible than their smash Nevermind, it features some of Cobain’s strongest songs, like “Dumb,” “Heart-Shaped Box” and the gorgeous ballad “All Apologies.”
