One of the Food Network’s favorite chefs, Giada de Laurentiis suffered a nasty accident on live television during the broadcast of the annual Thanksgiving Live Special that almost cost her a finger.
On set with Ina Garten, Alton Brown and Bobby Flay for the annual broadcast, the Italian-born American chef happened to cut her finger after her knife had slipped while cutting turkey and by the look on De Laurentiis’s face, the injury was pretty bad.
According to Radar Online, a witness reported, “She seemed to go pale and got very quiet putting pressure on it and whispering to Ina that it was bad. She looked like she was about to faint.”
The show immediately broke for commercial and when it returned, Brown announced De Laurentiis had left the set to get medical attention. The chef did return to the show all smiles and all bandaged up. She jokingly tweeted about her mishap and even posted a picture on Instgram.
De Laurentiis has been on the Food Network since 2002. Her Emmy Award winning daytime show, Everyday Italian, features some of her best Italian dishes and recipes.
